Measurement being taken on a floor section of the tank within close proximity to a side wall. The VideoRay articulating arm allows the gauge to be used in all orientations from vertical up through vertical down and in close quarters.

Measurement of a structural rib at Frame 228 on the inverted curved surface of the flange.

Preparing to take a measurement close to a structural rib.

The demonstration started in the lower portions of Fore Peak Tank 101 in the areas that are accessed by man hole only. The ABS inspector inquired if the UT measurements could be taken on the curved and inclined surfaces and in the confined spaces. These tasks were completed successfully.

The first portion of the demonstration confirmed:

  • The ability to quickly and safely navigate the entire open structure using the VideoRay ROV
  • The ability to visually inspect any portion of the open structure using the VideoRay ROV
  • The ability to track the VideoRay ROV's location in the tank at all times
  • The ability to record a UT measurement using the VideoRay ROV at any spot directed by the ABS Surveyor, including curved and inclined surfaces and confined spaces

The Demonstration proceeded to the top open portion of Fore Peak Tank 101.

The Second portion of the demonstration confirmed:

  • The ability to quickly and safely navigate the entire open structure using the VideoRay ROV
  • The ability to visually inspect any portion of the open structure using the VideoRay ROV
  • The ability to track the VideoRay ROV's location in the tank at all times
  • The ability to record a UT measurement using the VideoRay ROV at any spot directed by the ABS Surveyor
