About Me...

Hello. My name is Tom Glebas.

I didn't grow up with a burning passion for the sea, or imagining myself as an adventurer traveling the world, but here I am... aboard a helicopter over Cook Inlet, Alaska returning from the Steelhead platform (that had a blowout fire in 1987). I have my BOSIET / HUET / FOET and other offshore certifications, but surprisingly, these are not required in this region.

Unlike most of the regular "commuters" on this ride who normally spend two weeks shifts on the rig, I was working as a consultant evaluating a pipeline leak for further remediation using a VideoRay MSS ROV. I had allocated 2 - 3 days, but collected enough "actionable information" after 3 one hour dives that I stayed on the rig for only one night. To learn more about this operation, visit the Pipeline Leak Evaluation Project.

I have had the good fortune of working for VideoRay, an underwater ROV manufacturing company. Rather than spend 8 hours a day in an office dedicated to recurring desk tasks, my colleagues and I have been able to provide demonstrations, training and operational support using underwater technologies on a wide variety of underwater projects in some interesting locations scattered around the globe.

Some of my project highlights include:
